Cimetière Notre-Dame-des-Neiges... "Cemetary of our lady of snow", and here's the first appearance of the star of the "Cossack and Cemetary Show."

Greeted by our tourguides, who (dramatically enough) appeared from across the plot and made their way to us.

Cossack's checking out the real estate. Thinking of the future, like any good little goth. He was able to get quite a few pictures /inside/ the crypts by sticking his arm through gratings and airholes.

Monica's probably swooning because you couldn't look into the crypts without smelling... well, smelling dead things. It's really not prettty -- romantic, sure, but your biology reflexively tries to make you avoid death. Something about a survival instinct.

And a 40 for my homies.\r\nThe headstone's name really is a coincidence.

Look! This angel's got a nipple.\r\nCossack: What? Where?\r\n\r\nI'm not kidding; that's really what was said at the time of the picture. I think Cossack's trying to get the arm out of the way of the statue's boobs.

Our tourguide told us about the history of this area, and would stop every so often to fill in more of the story.

Our 50ft Queenie shares a quiet moment.

I dont think that's all she's sharing. Kinky.

Theis plot was for the pauper's graves. They couldn't afford headstones, so they would make a holy symbol of what they could. (okay okay, a cross with chains is *so*cool*)

A short pause before finishing climbing the hill. Believe it or not, that's a crypt we're sitting before. "Crazy modern Italian architects," said our guide.

Part of one of the most impressive crypts in the cemetary. This is also remarkable because it still has the statue in the niche, umarred.

This crypt had a front yard, reminding me of a Victorian garden. I'm glad this lady posed for me, as I'd had my (camera's) eye on her for most of the afternoon. I'm dead embarassed that I don't remember her name now.
